The Dhaka Apparel Summit 2017 was organized by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on 25 February to aid in the development of Bangladesh’s apparel and textile industry. The Summit brought together some of the world’s leading experts in their field to share their experiences and thoughts and to discuss ways in which the RMG industry could realize sustainable growth well into the 21st Century.
The discussions targeted at establishing a more sustainable apparel supply chain with the specific aim of creating a better future together.
The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the Summit.
Three panel discussion sessions were held in the Summit in an open and inter-active with full participation from audience.
Being the facts that the apparel industry of Bangladesh is at the dawn of a new era in its development, unprecedented safety standards adopted and great strides taken towards achieving environmental and sustainable targets and there is a strong desire to continue the growth of the industry with these principals in mind; the Summit offered a forum where visionary views for the future were discussed and expressed. A broad spectrum of proposals were come forward in the discussions to further improve the industry’s environmental and sustainable credentials and also brought into light various methods to achieve these goals.
