Today’s fast fashion comes at a hidden cost. To meet the momentum of demand, the industry is using scarce natural resources, often paired with cheap labor, to produce and deliver it to consumers. And yet, the nightmare doesn’t end there, as these clothes often end up in landfills, further polluting the environment—often not even worn more than seven times.
The progression of these unsustainable practices includes multiple actors, all of whom play a role in orchestrating the devastating consequences that follow. The Bangladesh Apparel Exchange aims to unite the key stakeholders to allow a shift towards a more sustainable growth of the apparel and textile industry through various projects and initiatives. We provide a platform for empowerment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. So that the price of fashion does not come from people, planet, or process.
